The Trend

The growing scientific emphasis on scalp and hair longevity is shifting hair care beyond cosmetic conditioning toward preserving follicular function, scalp balance, and hair fiber quality over time. Traditional soothing and strengthening actives often have limited impact on the biological mechanisms of follicular aging, oxidative stress, and disrupted cellular communication, while chronic exposure to environmental stressors such as UV radiation, pollution, and mechanical damage accelerates scalp deterioration and loss of hair vitality.

Advances in plant-derived exosomes are designed to enhance intercellular signaling and targeted bioactive delivery. By promoting adaptive follicular response and modulating cellular signaling within the scalp microenvironment, this technology contributes to sustained scalp balance and long-term hair longevity.

Consumer trend data from Mintel shows:

  • 59% of Brazilian haircare product users say it is important to use the right scalp care products to nourish the scalp and achieve healthy hair (Source: Patent insights: tackle hair-loss and thinning. Mintel, 2025)
  • The ‘skinification’ trend intensifies in haircare revealing the inclusion of skincare ingredients like exosomes in shampoos and conditioners, in which their regenerative properties address hair-loss and improve scalp health, highlighting the connection between hair and skin (Source: Patent insights: innovation in shampoos & conditioners. Mintel, 2025)
  • Scalp care launches carrying anti-hair loss claims remain niche, compared to those carrying other beauty-enhancing claims – signaling a missed opportunity (Source: A Year of Innovation in Haircare, Styling & Colour,2025. Mintel, 2025)
  • Scalp health and hair-loss are closely linked, with issues like scalp build-up or imbalances contributing to thinning hair. By neglecting this association, brands are missing the chance to cater to a prevalent consumer concern and meet unmet consumer needs (Source: A Year of Innovation in Haircare, Styling & Colour, 2025. Mintel, 2025)
  • During the last five years the hair care products launched to the market with Curcuma Longa (turmeric) have been increased by more than 20% globally (GNPD, Mintel, 2025)

What is EXOREVAGE® Curcuma?

THE PLANT BIOTECNOLOGY REVOLUTION TO BOOST FOLLICLE ACTIVATION.

EXOREVAGE® CURCUMA is a patent-pending technology developed by PREBEL. This technology was specially created to formulate needle-free  and non- invasive scalp care and hair care products.

In EXOREVAGE® CURCUMA the plant exosomes from Curcuma longa are modified with squalane (lipidic permeation booster) and ionic cofactors of copper coming from precious malachite gemstone to create a smart delivery system with biomimetic membranes, high safety and efficacy and controlled release of bioactive compounds, boosting cell regeneration, hair longevity and follicle activation

The plant based exosomes from Curcuma longa and squalane are both obtained by green biotechnology.

This technology is versatile enough to be formulated with other active ingredients and fragrances. It can be used to formulate transparent and non-transparent products, solutions, emulsions, cleansers, shampoos, and the other cosmetic forms.

Hero Ingredients in EXOREVAGE® Curcuma

We have selected strategically both the most effective and functional ingredients to create modified plant-based exosomes. These components are not simply mixed together, this technology goes beyond. In EXOREVAGE® Curcuma, these components are integrated to modify the exosome structure and enable to form functionalized exosomes from Curcumla longa, as a cutting edge technology for hair care applications.

Squalane

Squalane is high purity ingrediente that mimics the skin´s natural oils, making it an excellent emollient.

It´s obtained from sugarcane using fermentation by green biotechnology.

Precious Malachite Gemstone

Precious malachite is a liquid extract from gemstone rich in cooper with essential functions as antioxidante, detoxifing, and hair growth.

Plant-Based Exosomes From Curcuma Longa

Exosomes from Curcuma Longa stem cells which transports signaling peptides, such as growth factor and epigenetic factors, which can communicate with human follicles and reactivate the hair cicle and hair growth.

Structure of Functionalized Exosomes
in EXOREVAGE® Curcuma

The functionalized exosomes in EXOREVAGE® Curcuma are created by using three main components with very specialized roles:

PLANT-BASED EXOSOMES FROM CURCUMA: Carry information, specialized bioactives and plant-based peptides and it has cell signaling functions

COPPER IONS (IONIC COFACTORS): Coming from Malachite. Change the surface charge  and form coordination complexes with receptors and membranes. Enhance the interaction between exosomes and skin cells, providing selective affinity and amplifying the efficacy

SQUALANE (PERMEATION BOOSTER): Integrates in the exosomes membranes and optimizes cell fusion and promotes more effective release of exosome content.

Comparison between
Conventional Exosomes from Curcuma
and EXOREVAGE® Curcuma

Particle Size Distribution

Particle Size distribution for conventional exosomes from Curcuma longa  and functionalized exosomes in EXOREVAGE CURCUMA Conventional exosomes from Curcuma longa are natural exosomes that have not being treated or modified. This conventional plant-based exosomes from Curcuma longa show an average size close to 273 nm and a polydisperse distribution. The functionalization of this exosomes in EXOREVAGE CURCUMA show that the average size of the exosomes decreases to approximately 237 nm, representing a reduction of 13%, along with a more homogeneous distribution. These changes suggest structural reorganization and greater stability derived from the interaction of exosomes with the functional components of the composition. Likewise, the particle concentration increased from 6.5×1010 particles/mL in the conventional plant-based exosomes from Curcuma Longa to 6.83×1010 particles/mL in EXOREVAGE CURCUMA, indicating better dispersion and increased physical stability of the system. These results indicate more uniform structure of EXOREVAGE CURCUMA compared to conventional CURCUMA exosomes

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)

The structure of the plant-based exosomes was analized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Conventional plant-based exosomes from Curcuma longa show irregular and heterogeneous morphology, with poorly defined edges, greater size variability. In contrast, the functionalized plant-based exosomes in EXOREVAGE® CURCUMA exhibited a well-defined spherical morphology, with sharp contours, greater uniformity in size, and a more compact surface texture, characteristics that evidence the formation of a stable coating and effective functionalization.

These results indicate more stable and more uniform structure of EXOREVAGE® CURCUMA compared to conventional CURCUMA exosomes

In Vitro Tests

Induction of Human Follicle Dermal Papilla Cells (HFDPC) proliferation

EXOREVAGE® CURCUMA was evaluated against the main growth factors involved in the follicle growth cycle: FGF: Fibroblast Growth Factor, VEGF: Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and IGF: Insulin Growth Factor – 1 in a test of Induction of Human Follicle Dermal Papilla Cells (HFDPC) proliferation. It’s found a 177% increase in proliferation with EXOREVAGE CURCUMA and a greater effect than  other growth factors (FGF, VEGF, IGF-1).

Antioxidant Capacity

EXOREVAGE® CURCUMA was evaluated against conventional plant- based exosomes from curcuma longa in antioxidant capacity test using DPPH quantifying the mg Equivalent Trolox/ 100mL. It’s found up to 67% higher antioxidant capacity in EXOREVAGE CURCUMA compared to conventional CURCUMA exosomes.
